Come Celebrate the New Year!

September 11th – 13th 2026

There’s something powerful about beginning the new year in nature.

The weekend brings together traditional elements of the holiday – traditional Holiday meals, the sounding of the shofar, and on-site services all within the setting and community of camp.

Holiday traditions, shared meals, and the quiet of the lake create a setting that feels both celebratory and meaningful – a sweet start to the year.

Rosh Hashanah in the Park at

Camp Tamakwa

For generations, Tamakwa has been a place where community forms around shared meals, time outdoors, and longstanding traditions. Rosh Hashanah in the Park carries that same spirit into the High Holidays.

Camp style services will be held on-site. Participation is optional, and guests are welcome to engage in the holiday at whatever level feels meaningful.

Between services and meals, camp remains open for those wishing to participate. Canoes and paddle-boards are available. The dock is never far. Pickleball games start easily. Campfires gather people in the evenings.

The themes of Rosh Hashanah are woven throughout the weekend – apples and honey, festive traditional style meals, the sounding of the shofar by the lake. Time is set aside not only for services, but for conversation, quiet moments, and gathering as a community.

Location

Camp Tamakwa is nestled deep in the heart of Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario, on the shores of South Tea Lake. Established in 1893, Algonquin Park is one of Canada’s most iconic and cherished natural areas. Known for its vibrant fall colours, tranquil waters, and unspoiled beauty, Algonquin is a destination that inspires awe in every season. Mid-September in Algonquin brings misty water mornings, early fall colour, and breathtaking stars. It is a landscape that naturally invites reflection.

With no roads into camp, Tamakwa offers a truly rare and immersive experience in nature. Tamakwa is uniquely boat-only access, so no matter where your journey begins, the last few minutes of your trip will be by water, in a classic Pointer boat.
