Tamakwa’s woodshop program began in the mid 90′s and it has been going strong for over ten summers. Run out of a large, purpose-built facility, the program is enhanced by the professional woodworking and jewelry-making skills of our long time woodshop director.
Campers of all ages cut, assemble and detail projects ranging from birdhouses to jewelry boxes to clocks and thermometers and everything in between. In addition to these woodshop projects, a canoe paddle making program allows campers to either create their very own from a prepared paddle blank or refurbish an old paddle . Either way, the paddle is theirs to keep, take home with them, and then of course bring back to camp the next summer.
The woodshop continues to be one of the most popular camp activities and the projects constructed there last a lifetime.
