A few testimonials from wedding couples:

From Dominique and Steve, 2017:

Oh my gosh Craig we are over the moon with how everything went! On our way home, we kept bringing up how great of a team you guys are at Tamakwa, you have really great staff! The food was AMAZING all weekend! Everyone is talking about it, and they all want to go back!

Seriously though, you guys went above and beyond our expectations, it was wonderful. You were so on top of everything and I felt confident trusting you and your team to be on point, which isn’t always easy for me to do! You also dealt with hiccups like a champ, from people flaking out, to foggy rides in the middle of the night, everything was really professionally handled and we never felt like a burden. High fives all around!

From Alexandra and Nicholas, 2014:

Camp Tamakwa was the perfect setting for our family friendly wedding weekend. Each of our guests, whether 2 years old or 92 years old, found many activities to enjoy. There was zip-lining and wall climbing for the adventurous ones; picturesque strolls and canoeing for those wishing to relax. Not to mention a sweet basketball court where the wedding party dribbled away their jitters on the big day!

We had expected the beauty of the fall foliage, natural landscape, and excellent facilities. The most pleasant surprise was the warm atmosphere cultivated by Tamakwa’s staff. From the moment we arrived at the dock, we were greeted with a smiling army of helpful hands, eagerly looking to take care of everything. They welcomed our party, loaded the luggage, escorted our guests to their cabins, and attended to our last minute requests. We were blown away by the delicious food created in Chef Guy’s kitchen, and the ease of planning a weekend’s worth of meals. We felt that the staff embraced our vision of our wedding as their own. It’s a testament to their hard work that everyone was able to enjoy the weekend we had dreamed of months earlier.

The memories made at our beautiful wedding will be remembered for a lifetime. We had such a great time, we may have to plan an anniversary party back at Camp Tamakwa!”

From Natalie and Michael, 2013:

Dear Craig,

I am writing to commend you and your incredible staff for all that you did to help make NATALIE & MIKE’S wedding at CAMP TAMAKWA such a wonderful experience.

Three days at such a beautiful camp, spending quality time with everyone, is highly recommended. The guests had a blast participating in various activities. CAMP TAMAKWA has so much to offer.  Your entire staff is amazing. They were always there offering assistance in such a kind and cheerful manner. The level of skill, organization and forethought was impressive. Please thank everyone for a job well done.

You, personally, guided us through various arrangement decisions with gentle suggestions but always left the final choices to us! We very much appreciated that. Thank you for your expertise and unobtrusiveness. You made the preparations so easy and enjoyable.

The food, created by Chef Guy, was delicious but the wedding dinner itself was beyond all expectations. People raved about that dinner. It was spectacular and scrumptious!

To sum it up….it was an incredible matrimonial event and I would strongly encourage anyone with the slightest outdoor bent to book with CAMP TAMAKWA. They really know how to throw a party!

From Kassandra and Matt, 2012:

Wow, those were the first words that popped into my head as soon as we came around the point and glimpsed Camp Tamakwa for the first time.  My wife and I had been looking to do something different for our wedding.  The typical church, reception, dinning hall wedding did not appeal to us at all.  We had already visited a number of camps before going to see Camp Tamakwa, but none of them had yet to reach out and grab our hearts.  My wife has always loved the movie Indian Summer which was filmed at Camp Tamakwa and so we thought why not make the drive to Algonquin and see if we could have our wedding there.  As soon as we touched down and set foot on the dock we both looked at one another and knew that this was the place we wanted to celebrate our special day with family and friends.

Craig, Margot and the camp staff were incredible.  From picking people up at the dock to ensuring that everything ran smoothly, the staff were consummate professionals. They allowed us to tailor the weekend to our liking and helped with set-up and any other issues that arose throughout the weekend.  Every meal was fantastic and well prepared; we always had more then enough food for everyone, and people are still talking about how delicious it was.  We were able to tailor each meal to our specific liking and the chef had no problem accommodating any guest with special food needs or allergies.  All of our guests had nothing but good things to say about the staff, the food and the camp.

In the end our wedding weekend at Camp Tamakwa was incredible.  All our guests had a fabulous time, it was a Club Med weekend in Northern Ontario.  We have had numerous guests email us saying that it was the best wedding they have ever been too.  My wife and I both agree (although we may be a bit bias) that it was the wedding of the year.

From Bromley and Matt, 2010:

Keeping with our love of the outdoors and knowing we wanted a wedding in nature, it was the perfect setting for our celebration.  Tamakwa is more than a venue.  It offers a setting like no other, friendly staff who are there to participate in your experience and ultimately comes with an all round relaxed vibe that sets your wedding up for a weekend to be remembered.  We could not have been more happy with our experience.  From the initial ride to the camp in the big old wooden boat; the Friday night roaring camp fire; watching our guests zip line and sail hours before the ceremony and the amazing food and friendly staff… it was a perfect weekend.

Our family and friends still rave about it and we quite often get messages asking for a 5 year celebration back at the camp!  Having a wedding at Tamakwa takes the pressure away from a “big day” as you have a “big weekend” where you actually get to see and socialize with guests from Friday night to Sunday morning.  It allows guests to mingle and really get to know each other and for the hosts to get to see everyone and actually speak with your guests for more than a minute!

Our experience working with Craig and the staff was also unforgettable.  Craig was patient and kind, offering advice and guidance when required.  He was able to coordinate all our requests with his staff including food allergies, mobility access for my elderly grandparents, and cabin changes on the fly!  The staff were friendly, accommodating and all round perfect.  They never failed to say “hi” when you crossed them on the path and went out of their way to ensure everyone was taken care of.

We loved our wedding so much as did our photographers…you can read more about in the 2011 Toronto Life wedding guide.  Also photos from the big day can be seen at http://josephandjaimeweddings.blogspot.ca/2010/09/bromley-matt.html

From Sarah and Jeremy, 2009:

Our wedding weekend at Tamakwa was amazing. To this day I still get comments about how it was “the best wedding ever” and we owe that to the truly incredible setting. The camp atmosphere was so much fun, and our guests had a great time hanging out by the campfire, sleeping in cabins, eating in the dining hall and dancing the night away to an awesome live band on our wedding night.

Something else that might not be expected was the incredible food. Everything meal all weekend was incredible, from our Friday night BBQ to our amazing wedding reception meal. Craig and his team were so accommodating through the entire process, which we really appreciated. If I could do the whole weekend over again, I would in a second. In fact we talk about having a reunion weekend at Tamakwa for our 5 year anniversary!
