Actually originating in Australia, half-court tennis is designed with younger kids in mind, but is great for those who are older and/or at a higher skill level. The smaller area of play, unique playing surface, smaller racquets, and special low-pressure tennis balls allow Tamakwa campers to learn and appreciate the game of tennis.
Despite the modifications, skilled players, including the oldest campers and staff, find the game to be very enjoyable and competitive and helps their reaction time and development of hand-eye coordination. Campers will learn the basics under the tutelage of an experienced player and develop their skills throughout the summer.
Tournaments are organized regularly for various ages and skill levels, as well as the always popular camper-staff doubles tournament where eager campers pair off with staff in a camp-wide competition.
