Perhaps the quintessential Tamakwa program, canoe tripping is an important part of every camper’s summer. Every single Tamakwa camper will have the wonderful opportunity to take part in a canoe trip led by an experienced guide.
Cabin trips range from 2-5 days and often provide the greatest memories in a camper’s summer experience. As campers get older, more experienced, and fall in love with canoe tripping, many will request to participate in one of Tamakwa’s long canoe trips of 10, 13, or 15 days in length, mostly in Algonquin Park while some are in Temagami.
Tamakwa’s unique water access only facility allows for all canoe trips to depart right from our very own trip docks to begin their voyage through the beautiful lakes of Algonquin Park. Our canoe trip program in an integral part of our camp program; after breakfast most mornings, the entire camp will come down to the trip docks to say good bye to our departing trips and then return mid-afternoon to welcome back any returning trips arriving home that day. “The Sterning Report” is Tamakwa’s own live broadcast aired each morning by some of our administrative staff and it is the perfect blend of canoe trip highlights and early morning humour to start your day on the right note!
